I appreciate that they don't have the highest rates in town and the billing seems to be consistent with current demand. I don't have to worry about wild spikes in my bill as long as I can understand the contracts. Like all service providers you have to have the equivalent of a rosetta stone to decipher the the terms of the contracts to make sure you are putting yourself on the most efficient Terms for you.

One of the promises made when switching to Spark Energy was that of a $50 VISA gift card. I never received it. My letter to the Chief Operating Officer was ignored. My subsequent email inquiry on this subject was ignored also. As soon as I receive the virtual VISA gift for posting this review, I will terminate my Spark Energy contract and return to my local supplier.

I have been a customer of Spark Energy for 1 & 1/2 years. I am a gas customer. The first year was great, I saved about $2. Per therm. After 8 months, PGE started charging a delivery fee, which wiped out the savings. I did renew in May of this year, but I was hope they had a flat rate which they didn't. Next year if they don't have a flat rate I will have to cancel.

Have always been able to call & speak to a “real” understandable person! When choosing a plan, all info is presented—no surprises on our bills. I expect we’ll be staying with Spark when the time comes to renew our plan next year.

There are several different plans to select from to fit your particular needs. Spark Energy is has always been on top of the renewal program encouraging early renewal of the next sign up cycle. Great service and no problems.

Spark Energy not only consistently has competitive rates but almost always beats other electric companies. Their bills are straight forward, easy to read & easy to pay. Enroll in auto bill pay & get an online account for even more ease! They also have a great referral program where both parties get a bill credit after 90 days. So if you make the switch find a friend to do this with!

I've been a customer for several years..in 2020 I lost my home in hurricane Hannah.. moved to a apartment until I could find a mobile home to replace the old one.. unfortunately I lapsed in my contract and was billed fluctuating rates..not good.!! Disputed and lost. BUT I still have Spark Energy ..UNDER CONTRACT. HAPPY ENOUGH..TEXAS ENERGY SUCKS ..BUT THAT'S ANOTHER THING. Payment last month was paid at local grocery store ..on due date and and still charged late fees. Couldn't get thru to report payment AND I WAS CHARGED LATE FEES AND SENT A DISCONNECT BILL .NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY PAYMENTS ARE PROCESSED .MUST BE BETTER WAYS .

This company is running scams. I had a representative come to my door last week claiming to be with PG&E, and said he just wanted to “verify that I was being charged correctly on my gas bill” then proceeds to ask me to answer this quick survey. It seemed weird, and the “survey” seemed like I was enrolling for something. After I got the man to leave, it didn’t take much research to learn he had tricked me into enrolling in their energy program which would not save me money, it just meant I would be getting gas through them rather than PG&E. Because the representative had obviously lied to me and the whole situation was sketchy, I immediately called and cancelled the contract. Today, someone from the company called me yet again asking if there was a reason I cancelled, when I explained that I had been lied to they hung up on me. I have camera footage speaking with their representative when he came to my door, of him blatantly lying to me about what he was there for and I will take legal action if need be, as I’ve now been contacted 3 separate times by this company.

This company should be ashamed of themselves. My mother had a stroke 7 months ago and I took over her affairs. I just found Spark Energy as a line item on her PG&E bill. They have been charging her 3-4 times the amount of PG&E for gas procurement - since 2018!!! It is so wrong for a company to prey on older people who may not be savvy enough to understand their bill or navigate information online. Shame on you!

In March of 2023 I signed up with Spark Energy to get my natural gas from them instead of Washington Gas. My first bill was in April 2023 it was $.68 cents per therm and Washington Gas was $.56 per therm.7 months later my bill was $.62 cents per therm and Washington Gas was $.52 per therm. Besides charging more than Washington Gas they sad if I referred someone that we would both get a $50 dollar visa gift card which never came. See photo .
If I could give zero star for this company I will be glad to give cause How can u cut my power if I told to your operator that my payment will be made every 16th of the month. And it’s Sunday night. I have small kids. Nobody call me today and it’s not 16th yet. You have a very rude operator that couldn’t help me with this instead cut it off by purpose. Let me know when my contract be finished with u and I’ll be happy to deal diifirent but better company better than u. U know it’s Sunday night and u we’re closed. U should wait tomorrow morning to cut so I have time to call. This is very unprofessional company with unprofessional operator. I have little kids here that u trying to kill. It’s only the 10th today. Your customer service assistance not being helpful and rude maybe u need to check that too.

I have issues
RIP OFF…. Sparks energy charging CHICAGO resident 16 cent per kilowatt and the regular electric company COMED only charging 7 cent per kilowatt….When I asked about my bill and asked for a breakdown of the bill I was put on a 10 minute hold only to tell me that my rate has been 15 cent per kilowatt since 2019…..I WILL NEVER AGAIN SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY AND WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AS WELL….
Prices cannot be beat. We are happy with Spark. Only complaint is how difficult electronic payment is. It has to be done on their website, and not much notice is given for mailing in a payment on time. Electricity is the only bill that has to be done outside my usual bank process.
Spark Energy has been my electric provider for over fifteen years now. I have considered other providers but I always come back to Spark Energy. Even though the rates are all high, Spark is very competitive with the others. I very much like the fact that it is so easy to get in contact with them. They always provide excellent customer service. I especially love the fact that they offer a two year contract, which is so convenient. I hate having to deal with a new contract every six months to a year. I only had one issue with them in all the time I have been with them. However, that was resolved to my satisfaction. I will stay with Spark for as long as I can. They are my provider of choice!

Rep came to my house and got caught in a lie. Told me I would get charged $100 if I canceled in the first 3 days but afterwards I could cancel anytime. When reading the contract it clearly stated you could cancel free of charge in the first 3 days and after would be a cost. This sounds like a big scam when I keep reading others were heavily lied to as well. Don’t trust this company.
I would give them a zero if I could. People beware!! This company is shady and can easily scam you. Back in April 2023, I signed up with Spark Energy at .54 cents per therm fixed rate plan for 6 months. When my contract was about to expire (October) and I wanted to cancel because Nicor Gas had a rate of .37 per therm. One of their reps called me and convinced me to stay with them because their current price was at .38 cents and it would be locked in for 6 months. So, I agreed. In December I open my bill and I almost flipped out because I saw the amount. How could it be this expensive? I checked my 2022 December bill, and I used more energy back then. I had Santana Energy at that time. My rate was at .67 per therm, my bill was actually lower than my December bill with Spark Energy. I reached out to Spark Energy, come to find out my contract was never renewed and because it wasn't renewed it fell to a variable rate at 1.34 per therm!! They said no one called me and there was no history that I had called them. I checked all my phone call logs with no luck. I went back to read the contract and it doesn't say that if you do not renew your fixed contract it will fall to a variable rate. It states "If you choose a fixed price plan, then this Agreement will automatically renew to a new fixed price and term upon completion of the initial term, and the price may be higher or lower than the natural gas utility’s rate during any given term". Their fixed price is .38 cents per therm so how or why did it turn to a variable rate of 1.34?!! I've paid over $1000 for 2 months of natural gas and I've used less gas than in previous years. It is 3 times more expensive than Nicor gas rate!! This is ridiculous!! I've never paid this much in natural gas (not even with Nicor) and we've had harsher winters. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I have submitted a complaint with the State Attorney's Office, they need to know what kind of company Spark Energy is so they are no longer allowed to continue scamming people. Or better yet they no longer allowed to conduct business in the state of IL.
Had a rep come to my house and said they would lower my gas bill. They also said if u take a survey they would mail me a 50 Amazon gift card still haven't received it and it has been 4 months. They did lower my gas rate tho.
Wish I could give 0 stars. Had a representative come to my door saying they work with pg&e and I could sign up for a reduce rate on my gas which would reduce my bill. Well my bill comes and I'm being charged 3x the amount I was paying before. I call to cancel and they try to tell me I'm being charged x amount because I could use whatever amount of gas I want without being charged more. And I said just cancel my account and the lady kept trying to sell me on a lesser tier. Seemed to me she was reading off a script. When I finally got through to her and cancelled the account she said it will take 2-3 bill cycle for the account to close. This company is a scam. I would never recommend it to anyone in California.
COMPLETE SCAM!!! They lock you in a contact with low rates but hit you with a huge service fee every month. My last bill with them was 300% higher from the year previous.

There was a black women with a gap in her teeth going door to door, saying that she was partnered with consumers energy and wanted to lower my energy bill. However, that was all a lie. All she did was lie to get me to switch over, took my information and switched over my service without my consent. Now I’m stuck with a spark energy bill and a consumers energy bill. Also, there’s a termination fee if I decide to switch over back to the company I was originally with. Please beware !!!

We have Spark Energy as our gas service provider for over a year now. So far, their service is very good and the price seems to be better when comparing with my old provider. The sign up process was fairly straight forward and I don't have any complain at all.
This is a scam company that is connected with several other companies. Major Energy, Verde Energy, etc.. look on Better Business Bureau. They will tell you they have great deals but will not accept you as a new customer if you once enrolled in service under a different name and then place you on a variable rate charging you $100s more and then trying to make you pay $1,500 to get out of a variable rate contract.
