I only signed up yesterday, so I have limited experience, but so far it's been great. Their website is incredibly informative, which really helped me understand how solar buybacks work and what differences there are between companies. Signing up online was very easy. Then I called this morning with a question, got through to a real person quickly, and got the answer I needed. So far so good.

We recently switched our electric service provider to the CHAROIT ENERGY BACK PLAN. The process was easy and fast. The plan we selected is the most competitive one we found and so far and Chariot in doing what they said they said they would do.
Was referred by a friend that has solar also and has been screwed over by a few companies. This seems to be a lot better deal than I was getting, the proof is always in the pudding so I'm waiting to see results.

The process is easy and fast to sign up but once a member, Chariot energy will give you 7 days to pay after your due date and if not paid on that 7th day they will cut your electricity off.
Chariot was great! The associate who helped me enroll spent over an hour on the phone with me answering my questions about solar plans. While I'm not sure about the variable buy back rate, I'm not getting large bill credits anyway so I figured switch from Reliant was worth a shot to get the lower electricity rate. They also do average billing & give you a $200 bill credit! Looking forward to 2024 with Chariot!

I had a great experience switching to Chariot Energy. They were able to answer all my questions and and my solar panels were connected to them the same day (I switched from another energy provider because of solar buy-back. I am just a new customer but the onboarding was a pleasure.
I just had my solar system installed which was totally exciting but then cam the task of selecting the right power provider. I compared everyone that offered Solar buyback plans and chose Chariot. They offer 1:1 buyback and a 60 month plan that locks in the rate. The customer service representative was really awesome. I hope I continue to be so pleased.

Very easy to sign up for and their pricing is hard to beat
just started service on the 1st of November and already have a bill for the 1st-3rd of November and I've never had this happen before so we will see what happens as time passes.
Switching over was very easy and fast! Within minutes after applying I received communication with my account information and service was switched the same day.
We have only been customers for a few months, and I can say that I really can't tell the difference from one provider to the next (since they all deliver energy through Centerpoint) so to me the real difference comes down to the customer service you receive. So far I'm disappointed because it seems that nothing that was told to us has yet to be delivered. When it comes to the solar buy back, we have found out that the amount paid for electricity that we put into the grid is actually paid on a "Market value" basis which seems to change numerous times per day. So far the most I've seen is roughly 4 cents per kilowatt that we produce. But hey, something is better than nothing, right? Just not what was promised. Also, we were told that we would receive a $200 credit for changing providers (this was a big deal for me as I still had over 2 years left on my old contract and the price from Chariot was actually higher than what I was getting from Tri-Eagle...but T.E. does have a buy back program, so we switched). We'll needless to say that we have called, emailed, left online messages and so far no one has been able to provide our promised credit. And please do something about the almost hour wait time to get someone on the phone, only to be told that there's no Manger currently available..."we'll have to escalate this and call you back" seems to be the customer service moto.

It appears that $275 was spent with my credit card from this institution. I did not make this payment and I do not know how it happened. I demand that the authorities deal with it. PS: Thank you for taking care of the situation and refunding my money

It was so easy to transfer our electric over to Chariot Energy online even while I spoke to the Rep on the phone at the same time. He made sure I was able to apply our discount code to the correct area. He also went over all the charges in detail with me to make sure I got exactly what I was looking for. We are also a solar home which they do as well! Thanks!

This company is a joke. I signed up for the solar buyback program which states that if I cancel service the over production would be refunded or credited to another account. My system collected over 1600.00 and now they say they don't pay anymore for overproduction even though it is a solar buyback account. They then sell my overproduction to other consumers and refuse to pay out for what they owe. I will be cancelling my other chariot account and filing a lawsuit.
12.6.23 Update: The plans are super shady and hide the fact that they're buying energy back from me at a much lower rate than I'm buying from them, making my total cost of energy higher than if I hadn't gone with solar. The plans have lots of hard to understand fine print. Will be getting rid of these guys ASAP. Easy to understand plans and sign up.

Two weeks ago I started the process of buying my home utilities only to discover the hidden wording that can cost you double what you are currently paying. A friend suggested Chariot and thy solved all our problems and provided a simple easy to understand offer. The absolutely the best. You can’t go wrong with Chariot. Ron L
No stars , they lied about their rates and early termination fee. They told me early termination fee was a total of 15.00. It was 15.00 per month you have left in your contract. The buy back for solar is substantially less than you purchase it for. they charge you the daytime rate and buy it at the night rate. They put you on hold fro long periods so they don't have to talk to you and they never call back when you leave a call back number. Stay away these guys are not representing the rates they charge truthfully.

Moved in beginning of November and paid the bill for November in full, at the end of December Chariot Energy had not completed the "move-in" so when the previous owner's bill was over due (with TXU Energy) Center Point shut off my power without any notice to me (the current owner). When you call Chariot Energy's customer service you're going to get someone with a fake name in India. All they will do is "open a ticket" and then you'll never hear anything again unless you call and go through it all again and again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Really bad company to get electricity from especially when you have solar panels. I paid 1237 dollars this year for important 3700 kwh electricity which comes to 2.8 dollars per kwh. Please do not use this company every as they will rip you off.
Enrolling in the solar buy back plan was simple. Right now, excess energy credits roll over month to month and don't expire. Most companies don't offer this. Thank you, Chariot Energy!

I like their more modern website and how easy it is to move around their site. I like the weekly usage updates. And especially I like that we've had only 1 outage for a few hours since I've been with them. I highly recommend them.

Sadly, this company raised our rates when our contract was over and then stole my balance owed. I have a child with autism and am a single mom, we really needed the balance paid in order to pay our electric bill next month. Disgusting company. I contacted them about it multiple times. They don't care.

If you have solar panels DO NOT use this company. They charge out rages prices for their delivery fee. Find a company that has a delivery charge with a flat rate. I went through power wizard and was quoted one thing and when my service started with company it was not what I was quoted.
IF YOU HAVE SOLAR PANELS, DO NOT GO WITH CHARIOT. They misrepresented their buy-back rate to me. My old company used to give me a buy-back at the rate they would charge me per KwH. Chariot gives me ONE CENT. Totally fraudulent. The contract states up to 25 cents per KwH.
Requested a deposit refund Dec. 2023 and still waiting. The customer service said 2-3 weeks multiple times when I ask for an update. Still have not received it and it's now March 2024.

Entities with renewable energy options exceeding the state average of 31.1% receive a 3-star rating, while those offering less than 31.1% renewable options are rated with 2 stars. Lastly, a 1-star rating is assigned to those with no renewable energy options, indicating a lack of commitment to sustainable energy practices.
PUC Rating:
The Public Utility Commission publishes a rating for each provider based on the number of formal complaints filed against the provider in comparison to how many customers they have.
For example, a provider with 10 formal complaints out of 10,000 customers would have a 1-star rating whereas a provider with 10 complaints and 1,000,000 customers would have a 5-star rating.
The GridHacker rating uses a weighted average that prioritizes rates and customer service over renewable options and PUC rating. We do this because we feel that for most customers price and service are the two most important factors when they are shopping for an electricity plan.
