Great company! Needed a Electricity company that will start service right away and found Octopus Energy. I decided to get the Prepaid option with a start up of $75. The app works great! Everyday it will tell me how much electricity was spent (KWH) and also current energy prices in the area. I had it roughly from 07/08-07/21 and the total cost was $65.08 with 732 KWH used that includes the $10 monthly membership fee. When I left because my husband wanted to give another company a try, the cancellation was easy and it took 10 days for them to refund my money back (whatever was left over) Definitely recommend this company!

I am with octopus and i can say it is a great electricity provider. I had to renew and lock in my rate because of the change in Texas laws. Prior to that my bill was 75 $ for a one bedroom unit using wholesale price. I use to save 25 dollar compare to TSU. I have enrolled in 365 octopus i will see how that goes. Customer service is great upon switching plan. Update: just received my bill tgis company does no longer provide excellent service my bill almost triple decided to switch. Update: leave and run away this company is no longer valuable rep tried to put a switch hold on my account she did not know that i was going to pay after work which i did after my bill trippled of course. One bedroom 130$ good luck guys i guess for those with 2 or 3 bedroom you will pay tripple as much . My rate was 10.5c locked in i end up having a bill with a rate 11.6c no explanation plus membership of 10 dollar not worth it at all..
I had octopus energy for the summer of 2021. It was a low price for renewable energy on a 90 day plan and I have no complaints about the service I received. I talked to customer service a few times regarding my bill and they clarified everything with very little wait time when I called. I would recommend them again if it is a good price. Even if it is not the cheapest rate, it may be worth using them for the great customer service. TL has helped me most recently and did a great job.

Pathetic energy business. Your mistakes have made me have to changes in my finance that are not easy to make. I never had one problem nor issue with Brilliant Energy which yall bought out and since yall started its been every month "we apologize for the inconvenience etc". I have to make double.payments for your mistakes. I know yall won't read this and if yall do just simply say, what could we have done better....I was a loyal customer to brillant energy for 10+ years now this b.s. I wish there were no stars and cannot waitnto start looking else where for better energy power. I apologize for all those having to deal with these idiots.

Great customer service. Yani was the agent that took care of my call. She was profesional and helped me to understand the rates and to clarify some issues with the service and billing.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE CHEATS! We had their service in 2020 and couldn't leave fast enough. They have monthly issues with billing that are always in their favor. They will nit-pick and cheat you bit by bit so that you don't end up getting anywhere close to the promised rate. Customer service is pathetic and purposely loses your claims, complaints and doesn't respond or do anything helpful. It's a nightmare trying to get help on a problem and almost never get it completely resolved. You will spend you life either waiting on the phone for them or waiting for calls that never come. Go to anyone else!

I talked to Lizzeth in customer service and she was awesome. She spent at least 45 minutes on the phone going over a previous bill that I had with Direct Energy and was able to create the same bill with Octopus Energy and showed me a savings of over $80.00. She was very knowledgeable about Solar Panels and buying back are energy our former company does not. Needless to say I have a new Power Company! Thanks Lizzeth!
I have to set up several energy accounts for my job and working with Octopus Energy has been easy and they have great rates. I have had quick response when calling to get service set up or disconnected. I was lucky enough to speak to rep Patrick Fairbanks to start several accounts and he made it so easy for me; he followed up with me to confirm that all accounts were set up and he even has started more accounts for me with no issues or problems at all!!! Honestly these easiest energy company to have communication with as well as the most affordable after a lot of research when changing companies when I moved into this apartment. Signed contract 3 weeks ago for June 6 effective date. Was informed today via voice mail that they will not be providing service to me. It seems that the rates went up, and they did not feel like providing service at a fixed rate. Was advised to find another provider. No problem except the rates went up 25% since late April. So now I will have to pay 25% more because the Octopus will not honor their contracts. I gather if you an Octopus, one tentacle can sign a contract and another one can tear it up. Ahh, the beauty of multiple appendages....
This company has some the the lowest rates I’ve seen. With every main company like TXU, Reliant and Green Mountain raising their prices, Octopus Energy remains pretty low. Their referral program is awesome too! Everyone that I refer splits $100 with me to start with this company. The app is also user friendly and you can easily access tings like your past billing statements and current usage. I’ve seen that some companies try to keep that hidden and I’m glad that’s not the case here. I am happy to use this company :)
competitive prices, provisional team, and accurate billing all the time, I was switching electric companies all time till I finally found Octopus, and I went with the long term contract, now I can forget about renewing for a while.
Signed up a month ago to start in 3 weeks (First week in June). Received a call that they won't honor the agreement because of market volatility. Stay away from these people!! I won't do business with anyone that doesn't have any more integrity to honor their commitments.
I called to get new service. The customer services rep/supervisor is rude as hell. The supervisor don’t like getting on the phone. The reps hang ups in your face. Kelly always say she’s going investigate and don’t do it. Run from this place. Go look at the reviews- search all over google and see upset customers. They only create this new google in Texas - please do your investigation
They cancelled my order less than a week before it was supposed to go into effect. Left a voicemail, no call back, no email. I ended up having to pick another plan last minute and it cost my 5c per kWh.
Update May 2022: AWFUL BILLING SYSTEM. Just received a disconnect notice despite being set up on Autopay. I hadn't made any changes to my card, and they didn't notify me that payments didn't go through. Their system is a joke. ------- The website is awful and the billing is a mess. Two weeks ago I got an email saying that my autopay was scheduled, but then a couple of hours later I received another email telling me I hadn't signed up for Autopay. I just checked the site and it says I have autopay is active. So why did I get an email? Do I pay my bill manually just in case? Ugh. Several months I've paid twice because I didn't trust their autopay so I paid manually....and then the autopay worked fine. The only positives are: 1) they honored the contract of the company I was with (that was ruined by Snovid) so my prices are good, and 2) purple is a nice color. The billing has gotten better since I was switched, about 6 months ago (there was no autopay option at all then!) so maybe there's hope, but for now it's a frustrating experience.

The worst! Signed up for a fixed rate plan and the company decided to cancel it without notifying me. I found out when I got my first extra high variable rate bill from the company I had been using for the last year under contract. Called customer service. They didn't care.... "we no longer offer fixed rate plans." Buyer beware!!
I don't understand the negative reviews. We signed up in February 2022 and one of my neighbors did as well. It’s on autopay. Use electricity and the bill gets deducted. I've called a few times with questions, and my call is answered quickly and the customer service representative is always pleasant and knowledgeable.
I love Octopus Energy. I have a great rate with them. I'm hoping when my current contract expires that I can get the same rate or one better so that I can stay with them. They have been a good company and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend them.

I moved into another apartment 2 months ago, and since I have been here, my bill has been extremely high. I couldn't figure out why because this energy stuff is really confusing to me. But after looking at my bills for the past 6 months, I noticed that when I moved into my new apartment, the cents per kWh had double (from 9.2 cents/kWh to 19.94 cents/kWh). I called Octopus Energy Customer Service and spoke with Noah, and he immediately apologized for the increase. He not only fixed the issue, he also gave me money back from what I overpaid the first month. He was very sincere, kind, upstanding, helpful, and knowledgeable. Octopus Energy made a mistake, but with Noah's help, he made it right. I would totally recommend Octopus Energy 🐙🦑 🐙 🦑
Good customer service
They have some great energy plans with very easy-to-understand terms. If you own solar panels, you should check out their plans. They also have great discounted rates for EV and smart thermostats. Customer service is great! They are very responsive on both email and phone. Lizzeth helped me set up my EV since the vehicle is too new to be listed on their app. It's impressive that it only took Lizzeth and their team one day to add my EV and charger onto their list. They clearly know what they are doing and what kind of information they need to process my case.
I been with this company for a year and just now got back on it. I haven’t had a problem with them like other people are saying. I always had good customer service and especially with Melissa. She was so awesome and so freaking friendly. I never had this good of a good customer service. I always had a hard time with center point energy now that is a terrible company and customer service. Octopus energy are very quick to response and with anything I need. Especially on cancelling. I feel like People need to take them In consideration and remind themselves they are human too.

The best experience with an energy company to-date! Five start concierge service! I missed an email requiring me to send in documentation to start my electric service. After moving in, we lost power because of my oversight. In spite of that, Octopus Energy was here to save the day! I first spoke with Payden and he reassured me that he would keep an eye on my file and once I submitted the documents, we would have our electricity up in about an hour. I submitted the documents per his instructions and called back to confirm the timeline because our internet provider was scheduled to install our internet on the same day. When I called back, I spoke with Melissa who was so amazing! Not only did she give me a rundown of how electricity providers work in Texas, she helped me familiarize myself with nearby neighborhood amenities and understand what "Houstonians" mean when they say "The Loop" and more. And the best part - our electricity was back on within an hour!!! Thank you Octopus Energy for a such an understanding and thoughtful welcome experience. We look forward to staying in the Octopus Energy family!

Renewable Options:
The rating system is based on the availability of renewable energy options. A 5-star rating is awarded to entities that offer a fully renewable option, signifying 100% renewable energy usage. A 4-star rating is given to those that provide a mix of energy sources, with more than 50% coming from renewable sources. Entities with renewable energy options exceeding the state average of 31.1% receive a 3-star rating, while those offering less than 31.1% renewable options are rated with 2 stars. Lastly, a 1-star rating is assigned to those with no renewable energy options, indicating a lack of commitment to sustainable energy practices.
PUC Rating:
The Public Utility Commission publishes a rating for each provider based on the number of formal complaints filed against the provider in comparison to how many customers they have.
For example, a provider with 10 formal complaints out of 10,000 customers would have a 1-star rating whereas a provider with 10 complaints and 1,000,000 customers would have a 5-star rating.
