Usually am able to get back $1 to as much as $40 or even $50 per hour of energy savings (note: you have to build up a streak of hourly savings to get the higher amounts, and those higher amounts only occur during the summer). The payouts are immediate once you accumulate $10.
It's good to be self conscience about energy use and earning money as you save energy. Highly recommend this program.

I've been enrolled in OhmConnect Energy for a couple years now. I like the fact that I'm doing my small part to help but I also enjoy having some "forced" downtime to turn everything off and just relax, meditate or go for a walk. I even turn my phone off, even though it doesn't count.

I’ve been saving energy with OhmConnect Energy for over two years now and I have made money (especially during summer) for reducing my energy usage. It’s a really simple process, just sign up for an account and connect your utility service. Once you get approved you will start receiving OHMHOUR alerts to turn off any extra unused items in your house. I was lucky to have joined early on and got some smart switches for free to automate the fridge and lights. Save money, save energy and save the earth!

Everything was fine until my router was changed. Now I cannot connect the smart plug to my internet. That's one problem. The main problem is that no appears to be home. My first note to them went out a week ago the next four days ago, and no response. For that they have earned one star. NO customer service seems to be available. They don't deserve any one's business, regardless of the idea of savings.
It was great the first year and a half we did this but now we get negative points and it takes 9,000 points to get $10 now its not worth it anymore.
Love OhmConnect Energy. The greatest Program in a long time. Finally someone that gets it when I say “I don’t own the electric co” A saying that was passed down from my Dad. No I say it all the time. Turn off the lights when not in used!
Signed up and haven’t heard boo from them not have I earned anything. If you have a massively connect house this may help. Otherwise you really have no way to use this.
Editing to add: The suspiciously quick response to my review here is the most response I’ve gotten so far. I still have not had any real support for my connectivity issue, and it has been more than a week of using their support form, email, etc. No idea how to get help from a real person. I guess they make their money by charging you without helping you. Impossible to contact anyone for support. Tried writing emails and calling, multiple times. Nobody seems to exist. Really starting to feel like a scam.
OhmConnect Energy has CONSISTENTLY ignored our emails and have not helped us at all with our dispute. OhmConnect Energy is very reminiscent of a SCAM and their support team is nonexistent! Do not fall for it like we did!!
I was ALMOST your customer until I read the reviews. 1. This is advertised as a free service, but apparently you need to buy things from them? 2. Your usage curve goes down (good for you and the planet) , but the app will start saying YOU didn't do enough the next week? This should be based on the AVERAGE CA household during these times offset by your own normal usage if you're normally OVER the average. This seems to benefit people whom already have a lot of money, not people who would do this to earn money to offset their costs... Look at the reviews! Families yes, but read them carefully. They are targeting wealthy families for advertisement and spam marketing. In conclusion, OhmConnect Energy you had a good idea, but someone in your chain has twisted it terribly. I hope that people that read this will gain a better understanding of your current business model before signing up. Do better for all of us and the planet. To your reply: Yes, MY usage is already low because I'm trying to save money. So, why would I sign up if what I'm doing is already helping? You aren't even listening. If you want to help it should be based on EVERYONES average not just mine! I SHOULD be getting rewarded for not using power REGULARLY during peak times not "penalized" because I'm already using so little. Again, do what's right.
I've been apart of this program for about 3 years, I feel it was good until this summer (2021), when they changed it, the payouts, the prizes, it was so much better the old way ( I realize things have to have changes). But, I don't feel like this was a good one. Before they said to cut as much as you could, so I would flip my breaker for that hour, now they say to let the smart plugs etc do the work. Confused, and it takes forever for someone to respond to emails and such.
Terrible customer service. They will not call you back and they email every couple days and do not always answer your questions. They sent me 2 free smart plugs (brand unknown) for joining and no one there seems to know how to connect them to your WiFi. If you don’t connect them, they threaten to charge you for them. They need help with customer service.
Whenever their is an ohm hour my ecobee says not earning. I have already put the device settings to save max. But no one can answer my question why my echobee has always zero earnings...
It started pretty well. I would get points for conserving energy on set dates and times, but then they started giving me negative points. I was doing the same conserving as I had when they gave me points. I am now over this!
Signed up for the promise of a free smart plug, I just had to pay for it before (it was wildly overpriced, almost x2 the price). I should have guessed it was a scam, after 7 months of being signed up i never got the reinbursment for it. I will be opting out soon.
I never received the device. They keep sending me threatening emails and text. I have tried sending emails text and they never respond to me. Have not been contacted by A human or a coherent email in regards of fixing the situation. And the worst thing of it is, that my friend signed up they got their device and they’re all connected having no problems. So frustrated
My ten day average usage for the most recent ohmhour was 650 watts. My usage for the ohmhour 88 watts, so I saved 562 watts compared to my average. That seems to be an 86% reduction. According to OhmConnect Energy, it's a 28% reduction. This has happened repeatedly. They claim it's because I have solar panels, though my system is producing no electricity during the ohmhour, and so it is necessary to use some special method to calculate my % savings. I am not convinced that their explanation/method is not BS. I think it's more likely to be a way of preventing people from reaching savings goals and earning promised rewards. I am on the verge of canceling my participation.
When I joined you were guaranteed to earn money with points. Then they decided to overhaul the app and now it's next to impossible. We now earn watts, yippee. The big thing now is spinning the prize wheel or grand prizes such as a spa day, train trip, pelaton bikes, appliances, just to name a few. OK so these are great incentives, I preferred the cash, but you have to use your watts to enter so good luck saving up.
Been part of this program for several years! They need to do something special for us "old timers"! Never win anything big....including now with their new spin the wheel! I spent a ton of watts yet someone who spins once wins the big prize! REALLY😡⁉️😡⁉️
Ohm Connect has to be the biggest scam I have ever dealt with. I won a plug for 430,000 points and have been with them for 4 years since they started. They will give women prizes but not men. I have 108,000 points. I think trying to win $2500 for apple products It’s a scam. Their evil and I don’t want them to have my information and I trying calling them and they won’t answer. I just wanted to close my account and Ohm connect can go Fu(k themselves.
OHM altered settings on our Tesla Powerwall resulting in electricity being pulled from the PG&E grid during the OHM hours on Friday, September 24, 2021. This was reported to OHM that evening, and a follow up was sent on Monday the 27th, Tuesday, and Wednesday with no response. OHM does not answer the phone at their office and appears to have no intent to answer the questions that have been posed to them about this invasive and unauthorized change to our system. As a leader in the field of customer service I find their lack of response inexcusable.
I signed on 2 years ago, and it's been fun. Collect periodic Amazon gift cards. For OhmHours, I reconnect a few things to my solar battery backup to maintain "Diamond" status. The benefit is that this is a test exercise for the backup. Backups of whatever systems always need periodic verification. At one OhmHour, an inverter failed, and I found out about it before I really needed it in an outage.
I never got them to reply in Houston, lost my lock in rate. Bad company.

Does not work with Alexa. No linking. Basically a bunch of wasted time attempting to set it up. Never worked. Seems like a scam.
Really awful experience with OhmConnect Energy. They send devices that don't work, then a bunch of scolding messages. I spent hours trying to make this work, and tried multiple device types, but they could never get it working for me. Rather than apologize, they send me frequent emails asking me to refer my friends. Stay away, friends!! (UPDATE based on OhmConnect Energy's reply: They DID jump on the phone with me several times and were never able to get the devices to work properly. They even tried sending other devices, and those did not work either. I spent hours with them trying to make this work and it never did. Ugh!).
It's a scam. I was told that I will receive a free sun shelter after I signed up, but never received it. Have been saving up for more than 5200 points but ended up losing them all for a short-notice event change within 35 minutes. The energy rate on that day was twice as much as my previous two days' combined total. Maybe FTC should look into this company.
I stopped this service and they secretly started controlling my appliances again after a year. Very shady and unscrupulous business. They get paid by the state for the number of devices they shut off.
I don't think this is a legitimate company. I started to sign up for their service but then I read a lot of negative reviews. The positive reviews were mostly short one-line reviews which looked a lot alike (either from employees or bots?). So I did not complete the sign-up process. Now they send me emails trying to convince me to completely sign up. Today I clicked a link at the bottom of their latest email, Unsubscribe from emails. But instead of taking me to an Unsubscribe web page, it just took me to their web page to sign up for their service. Very shady.

Customer service was awesome at working with a very upset customer and a difficult situation. 5 stars for the customer service team alone. Good program and fun way to save energy. Had issues with the Ohm plug but CS resolved the problem once I was able to connect with them.
This service is interesting but a distraction and a waste of time. Particularly if you try to disconnect from them. No response to emails, their phone number is no monitored. help email goes probably directed to NULL. Disgraceful.
Writing this review to just warn people so that they can get some sense before joining their program. I had used it first time in 2019 and 2020; during that period I had several issues and every time I need to ask for correction fortunately they had live customer support and it used get resolved withing 2-4 business days. Then I disconnected due to all the hassle due mismatch in their report and my utility provider report. Recently I got promotional email for $50 to re-join the program and I thought I can give it try again but this time looks like they completely bounced back from their promotion; so no promotion gift card without giving any specific reason and customer support is so pathetic they reply you back after 8-14 days (officially they say 5-8 business days) which more or less transform to their timeline but still who wants to wait for 5-8 business day for their mistakes. To conclude, this program is not worth to join. If someone really want they should check their utility provider they also have some similar programs where consumers can save some money. Hopefully my review saves hassle for someone reading this review.

Great idea to encourage you to conserve, but horrible customer service. They stole my $50 PayPal reward after it was refunded back to them and never returned my points. Then they ghosted me when I continued asking for an explanation. You can't call, it's all via email. It's been 3 months since the incident!
UPDATE: i finally heard back from the company and they asked me to send a screenshot of the page that showed I was not elegible and they sent me my free hub. I’m thankful for the help but sad it took so long I’ll turn my 2 starts to 4 because of the good experience I had before they long wait I had. I have been using this company for about 2 years and everything has been fine till now. I signed up to get my free hub during the promotion and after about 2 months I have not received it. I have sent multiple emails to ask why it’s not been shipped or why I haven’t received tracking and I have heard literally nothing back. It says we will get back within 5-7 business days and that was over 3 weeks ago. It’s bad customer service that you email 5-6 times and don’t get anything back..

OhmConnect Energy is a fabulous way to conserve energy when the grid is getting overloaded—AND make money for doing so! I joined Ohm when they first started up and have been so pleased to have an easy way to help the environment. They send out an advance notice (text or email) whenever they become aware of forecasted, excessive energy usage. That makes it easy to plan your day so you can flip your breakers for an hour (occasionally two) during peak times—or you can let Ohm do it for you with their automatic plugs, so even if you’re out of town, you can participate. I apply their credits to earn $$ to offset my bills, but you can also use your points for gift cards, home energy-saving aids, or contests. Highly recommend OhmConnect Energy!!
If you like to work thier referral program and enjoy working for free sign up then today if you want them to give you money you earned only to have it taken away then this is the right place to be its been weeks they are still withholding my money.
This company has been nothing but fresh air compared to what I most recently used as my provider. I could cry by the quality of customer service with OhmConnect Energy. With every electricity company offering a comparable product, to stand out you could provide better people. People that sound like they have autonomy. I found this with OhmConnect Energy. The website functions well too. Which, for some reason, other companies neglect.
4 TEXTS AND 4 EMAILS FROM THEM EVERY DAY!! I have tried opting out and it doesn’t help. The texts never stop. The emails never stop. I don’t care about “ohm hour”, I never signed up to participate in this program
Easy, nearly free money! What's not to love? We earned $900 and $600 the last two years.
These plugs are supposed to be great but keep disconnecting or something. I have an the app on my phone and finally checked the devices via the web. On the phone, the devices are okay but on the website, multiple offline ears. I've been unplugging and re-plugging them for the last couple hours and still their site shows issues. One minute, all is fine. A couple of seconds later, I go back to the site and 1,000,000 plugs are offline. According to the app last night, I had everything working, expecting a payback. Next thing we know, they couldn't connect to several devices. Indeed, if you want to get paid for these plus, forget it!!!! Too much problems.
This is a great company! I've won some amazing things and I load on the gift cards all in exchange for conserving energy. Now that I've gotten solar panels that may help as well.
May have been a good program at one point, but now they pay too little. Not worth the hassle for what amounts to a $1-1.50 each ohm hour, which happen a 10-20 times a year. Alternative ways to save power without OhmConnect Energy will be more fruitful.
Really excited to experience Ohm Connect Texas which is referred by my friend. Really they provide low cost , clear cut , straight forward prices that will save your 10 or 20 bucks a month , compared to other providers. Ohm plug , rewards adds more feathers to the hat. As of now 4 stars , I will change it to 5 stars once I completely feel its the time.
I sent two referrals up last week one lady had a flip phone so she used my phone to make her account and somehow our accounts got merged together well now the accounts are separated and I still have not been paid for my referrals it's been two weeks now and it's very disappointing because my referrals are asking me where their sign up bonuses that I promised them that they would be getting when they signed up I don't know these ladies and I don't want to be made out to look like a liar I wish this OhmConnect Energy would keep their word and fix this hiccup I have more referrals exciting up however I will not do so until this is fixed. It's going on 3 weeks now and I am still waiting I have asked to talk to a supervisor the CEO the owner I just don't think it is correct for us to be giving our personal information trusting them and them asking us to have people sign up to use them and then they don't follow through it seems like a scam and the worst part is is they used me to be a part of it by getting people to sign up and giving their information
What a complete joke. Nothing but a waste of time.
Finally I got disengaged from this company after I realized they give useless points for saving electricity that can only be used to buy their overpriced inferior products or ruffle tickets that probably only the son of the owner wins. They failed to disclose that by joining their program I would be immediately and automatically be un-enrolled from PG&E's program that reimburses actual $2.00 for every Kwh reduction during their saving events. So if you prefer useless points and a company that does not have a phone number and chat doesn't work vs. real and very significant money ($2 per Kwh), and a company with real live and super great customer service (PG&E), then think twice. OhmConnect Energy will probably tag on their boiler-plate, meaningless response to this review, but instead, they should rather focus on taking care of their actual clients, so the significant number of people writing poor reviews doesn't continue to increase. They are obviously making a ton of money on the backs of their clients. How else can they afford to pay $50 for their clients to con their friends and family to get this lousy deal too?
Too many tricks! Hard to know what you are agreeing to. Took me hours to finally stop emails and find the close account box. Takes days for account to close so I would suggest not to open one. I don't know if my personal information will truely be expunged from their system. Also - never give them your cell number. Update: Still receiving their emails.They won't take no for an answer. 3rd party companies in the loop when you do business with them.
Worst company. They are a scam and trick you into their services. They fail to tell you that they will remove you from your current utility service provider's reward program when you sign up with them. Please save yourself time and trouble and avoid signing up with this agency.
I participated the whole summer, suffered with no AC when it was very hot. I check my balance and I don't have even enough for a $5 gift card. So I suffered ALL summer long, and can't even win a $5 gift card? This is certainly not fair. I'm out, this is a HORRIBLE project. The previous project by ConEd gave me about $100 in the past.

OhmConnect Energy encourages high energy use (1) during the days that have no ohm connect event. Also penalizes people with Solar panels (2) (especially as we start getting into Fall and winter where days are becoming shorter and chances of more cloudy days) 1- Since they compare to the last 10 days of use, and if you have an efficient home such as ours, you use so little electricity that what they are asking you to meet is virtually impossible unless you want to used the panel to cut electricity to your entire house (thereby having to set all the clocks and other things again). So to meet their requirements you need to use more electricity on the days that there are no ohm hours. Also if your nest thermostat is in eco mode before they start, you wont get credit for that. We actually keep our Nest in Eco mode most of the time to ensure we are not using energy unless we really need to, but we get penalized for that. 2- We have recently installed solar. Now OhmConnet is asking us to reduce our electricity consumption to a further negative state. Except, most of their ohm hours are in the evening and around 5~6PM. This time of the year, we are getting more clouds and also the days are shorter (i.e. in the 10 days they measure, prior to the event, when it comes to the event days, we have about 12 min of less sunlight then the first day of measurement) therefore not producing as much. Now we are getting penalized for that as well. Maybe because I come from an Engineering and management background, I am expecting too much in asking them to think though the process prior to implementation.

Renewable Options:
The rating system is based on the availability of renewable energy options. A 5-star rating is awarded to entities that offer a fully renewable option, signifying 100% renewable energy usage. A 4-star rating is given to those that provide a mix of energy sources, with more than 50% coming from renewable sources. Entities with renewable energy options exceeding the state average of 31.1% receive a 3-star rating, while those offering less than 31.1% renewable options are rated with 2 stars. Lastly, a 1-star rating is assigned to those with no renewable energy options, indicating a lack of commitment to sustainable energy practices.
PUC Rating:
The Public Utility Commission publishes a rating for each provider based on the number of formal complaints filed against the provider in comparison to how many customers they have.
For example, a provider with 10 formal complaints out of 10,000 customers would have a 1-star rating whereas a provider with 10 complaints and 1,000,000 customers would have a 5-star rating.
The GridHacker rating uses a weighted average that prioritizes rates and customer service over renewable options and PUC rating. We do this because we feel that for most customers price and service are the two most important factors when they are shopping for an electricity plan.
