DO NOT SPEAK TO THIS COMPANY. They will automatically enroll you in a contract without your consent and your energy bill WILL INCREASE, despite what they may tell you. Customer service is horrible. It's a scam!!!!!!!!!! Please also note that these "5 star reviews" below are most likely employees/friends or family of employees trying to boost their extremely low rating!

They are scammers going door to door telling people you were being overcharged for for gas electric to get your account info to fraudulently sign you up for their electric and gas. If i could give negative stars I would.

They came to my home and claimed to be from my power company and needed me give them my info and said they were doing it for the whole apartment complex, only to find out after what the company was, which the person who came never mentioned the name of the actual company he worked for, so yeah they are scammers and only want to charge you more on top of your regular electric bill.

Me acaban de mandar una carta que ahora ellos son mi compañia de luz pero no hemos firmado nada con ellos, solo vinieron y dijeron que era de mi compañia de luz en ningún momento dijo que eran de IDT Energy y les mostré el Bill de luz y nada más cuando pidieron mi número de teléfono no se los di, esto es un fraude será que se puede demandar por qué eso no está bien yo no quiero cambiar de compañía

One of their representatives signed me up for this service without my knowledge and when I saw it in my bill I called and told them I never signed up for it. They sent me the contract that was supposedly signed by me, wasn’t my signature nor my email or phone number. Sent them proof it was not my signature they stated they would investigate, after 2 weeks they call me back and state that they would give me a credit of $35 dollars, toward the $99.05 that was charged to my Pepco account. Told them I didn’t agree to it as wasn’t something I signed up for, the investigator told me I couldn’t get anything for free and would not communicate with me any further. So now I am stuck with a bill that has doubled since they were fraudulently added, and no way of getting this off my bill as my energy supplier is telling me I have to deal with IDT with this matter. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY, STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!

I don't appreciate that you come into our home representing a company and you don't. That should not be allowed soliciting into people's home. It is wrong and lying to people that you represent some other business like GE/AEP. You guys should be liable or fined. HONESTY ISNT ON YOUR AGENDA

A representative came to my apartment, and the door was answered by my elderly in-laws thinking it was me, mind you they don’t speak a word in English. They told me the representative walked inside my apartment and had the audacity to go through my mailbox that’s 3ft by the entrance and took an unopened comed bill which he then opened and tried to fraudulently make an account, my in-laws are not the residents and he had them on the phone with the operator. Thank goodness they said they were saying no to everything. They said they kept telling him they don’t speak English and that they don’t live here (in Spanish). I later saw him and told him to please let me take a picture of his ID tag; however he said no and I ended up being threatened.

This company hires filthy humans like Deandre Moore Jr that try to scam you because they offer no real sales skills, so they resort to cheap tactics like lying and manipulation for scraps in commission. Terrible way to run a business, great way to run it into the ground.

Plans and Rates:
We review all available plans from every licensed energy provider. Then we rank the lowest available rate from each provider. Providers then receive a rating based on what percentile their lowest plan ranks.
For example, Provider A has the 3rd lowest-priced plan, while Provider B has the 45th lowest-priced plan out of 46 providers who submitted plans to PUC. Provider A will have a rating of 5, while Provider B will have a rating of 1.
Customer Service:
We scrape online reviews from Google, Yelp, BBB, and Trust Pilot to determine what customers are saying about the provider. The rating reflects the aggregate of all online reviews.
Renewable Options:
The rating system is based on the availability of renewable energy options. A 5-star rating is awarded to entities that offer a fully renewable option, signifying 100% renewable energy usage. A 4-star rating is given to those that provide a mix of energy sources, with more than 50% coming from renewable sources. Entities with renewable energy options exceeding the state average of 31.1% receive a 3-star rating, while those offering less than 31.1% renewable options are rated with 2 stars. Lastly, a 1-star rating is assigned to those with no renewable energy options, indicating a lack of commitment to sustainable energy practices.
PUC Rating:
The Public Utility Commission publishes a rating for each provider based on the number of formal complaints filed against the provider in comparison to how many customers they have.
For example, a provider with 10 formal complaints out of 10,000 customers would have a 1-star rating whereas a provider with 10 complaints and 1,000,000 customers would have a 5-star rating.
The GridHacker rating uses a weighted average that prioritizes rates and customer service over renewable options and PUC rating. We do this because we feel that for most customers price and service are the two most important factors when they are shopping for an electricity plan.
